Smartwatches are expected to feature prominently when Google I/O 2014 kicks off later this week. Among them should be the LG G Watch. But LG’s ambitions do not appear to be limited to adults. User manuals posted on LG Korea’s website have revealed that the company is also readying a new smart bracelet geared at children and their parents.
The manuals are for the LG-W105, a device we thought was to have been the LG G Watch. A closer look at the manuals (with the help of Google Translate) suggests instead that it will be a bracelet worn by kids. Worn by kids, it will work with an app called KizON. The two will presumably work together to allow parents to know where their children are at all times.
The KizOn will measure 55.2 by 34.7 by 13.9 millimeters and weigh 40 grams. The manual also indicates it will come with GPS and Wi-Fi and that the battery will take 3 hours to charge and will offer 130 minutes of talk time and 190 hours (just under 8 days) of standby time.
We’re trying to get more information about the LG-W105 to better understand what device it is.
Note: In our original post, we identified the LG-W105 as the LG G Watch. Our thanks to Kevin for catching our mistake. Here is the original post if you’re wondering just how wrong we appear to have gotten it:
Smartwatches are expected to feature prominently when Google I/O 2014 kicks off later this week. Among them should be the LG G Watch. If you cannot wait until Wednesday to learn more, you can now download and read the user manual for the LG-W105K/L/S variants. The only catch is that you will need to know how to read Korean.
If nothing else, the manual does confirm that the LG-W105 variants will not come with their own SIM. They instead now appear to the Korean variants. Perhaps the LG-W120 will be the model to come with its own USIM module (Universal Subscriber Identity Module), allowing it to make and receive calls without needing to connect to to another device.
In terms of size, the LG G Watch will measure 55.2 by 34.7 by 13.9 millimeters and weigh 40 grams. The manual also indicates that the battery will take 3 hours to charge and will offer 130 minutes of talk time and 190 hours (just under 8 days) of standby time.
Recent rumours have pegged the launch of the LG G Watch at early July. It will reportedly sell for less than the Samsung Gear 2 Neo, suggesting a price around the CA$199.99 mark in Canada.
Head on over to MyLGPhones if you’re interested in reading the LG-W105L or LG-W105S User Manual.
Our apologies for any confusion.
