LG G Watch to launch in June in Europe for €199

LG G Watch

Details about the upcoming LG G Watch continue to fall into place. Unveiled last month with an expected launch sometime in Q2, a report today narrowed down that launch window significantly. According to France’s Les Numeriques, LG France has confirmed that the LG G Watch will launch in Europe  in June for €199. There is no confirmation yet that it will make its North American debut around the same time but that’s a fair assumption to make at this point. When it does launch here, we can also expect the price to fall in the US$199 (about CA$220) range.

The LG G Watch will be powered by the new Android Wear platform for wearable devices. It will sport a touchscreen display that will always be on and will show the time when not in use. It will also be water and dust resistant (specific IP rating not revealed) and available in at least two colours: Stealth Black and Champagne Gold. Other details remain the topic of rumours. Among them is the size of the display, expected to be 1.65 inches with a resolution of 280 by 280 pixels. The LG G Watch willl also reportedly come with 4GB of internal memory.

Unlike the Samsung Gear 2 smartwatches, the LG G Watch should be compatible with a much wider range of Android devices. This may give it an advantage over its competitor.

With LG having confirmed today that the LG G3 will also launch sometime in Q2, it is not unlikely that the Korean company will unveil its latest flagship smartphone and first Android Wear smartwatch at the same event.
