LG first announced the LG G Watch in March shortly after Google announced Android Wear, an extension of its Android operating system for wearable devices. Since then, it has been building up the excitement with new photos, a new sitelet and now a video. Called “LG G Watch: Product Movie” (not the catchiest title out there), it once again gives us a good look at the upcoming smartwatch without revealing much in terms of specific details. We can expect the following:
- Sleek and lightweight for all-day comfort.
- Metal body for a timeless look.
- Ready for anything, anytime with a single charge.
LG promises that the LG G Watch will be “ready for anything, anytime with a single charge” but gives us little in terms of specific battery life. With the watch to come with an always-on display, it will be interesting to see just how long it will be able to last.
Rumours have suggested that the LG G Watch will come with a 1.65-inch display with a resolution of 280 by 280 pixels and 4GB of internal memory. It could sell as low as about US$199 (about CA$220).
The LG G Watch could find itself among some tough competitors when it launches. The Motorola Moto 360 and Apple iWatch to name but two are also expected to come out later this year.
