Recent rumours and our own sources suggest that the device bearing the model number LG-D85x (along with the LG-VS985) is none other than the upcoming LG G3. Until now, we’ve been aware of the LG-D850 and the LG-D851 but it now appears that there is yet another variant, the LG-D855. A new UAProf file was spotted on LG’s website by MyLGPhones.com for this latest model.
Like the LG-D850 whose UAProf file also surfaced recently, the LG-D855 will come with a WQHD (2560×1440) display and LTE, HSPA, EDGE and GPRS connectivity. These details certainly line up with what we expect from the LG G3.
The report adds that the LG-D855 is the variant for European markets. If so, we now have the following variants:
- LG-D850: AT&T
- LG-D851: T-Mobile USA
- LG-D855: Europe
- LG-VS985: Verizon Wireless
Other rumoured specifications include an octa-core processor developed by LG, Android 4.4.2 KitKat, a 13MP camera (likely with OIS) capable of 4K video capture and 120fps slow motion and perhaps even a new multifunctional backside button.
LG is reportedly looking to launch the LG G3 earlier than it did the LG G2 which it unveiled in August 2013. Launch dates as early as May have been rumoured but a summer launch appears to be the likeliest scenario at this time.
