LG today formally announced the LG G3 Stylus. The latest smartphone in the growing G3 family is not a surprise as the company accidentally revealed it earlier, confirming rumours that a stylus-based version of its LG G3 flagship was coming. As expected, the LG G3 Stylus is likely geared to take on the upcoming Galaxy Note 4 but at a lower price point.
“With its exceptional hardware and exceptional price that can’t be beat, the LG G3 Stylus is in a category all by itself,” said Dr. Jong-seok Park, president and CEO of the LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company. “The LG G3 Stylus is the perfect tool for consumers who don’t want to be bogged down carrying a laptop, tablet and smartphone. It gets things done and lets you have fun while doing without having to compromise on quality, style or user experience.”
The LG G3 Stylus specifications clearly show that, like devices like the LG G3 Beat, it may come with “DNA borrowed from the acclaimed LG G3” but is more of a mid-range device:
- Processor: 1.3GHz quad-core
- Operating system: Google Android 4.4.2 KitKat

- Rear-facing camera: 13MP
- Front-facing camera: 1.3MP
- Battery: Removable 3,000mAh
- Dimensions: 149.3 × 75.9 × 10.2 millimeters
- Weight: 163 grams
- Colours: Black / White/ Gold
- Other: Stylus pen
As you would expect from a G3 device, it comes with LG’s suite of add-ons, including Dual Window, Gesture Shot to trigger selfies with a quick gesture, Knock Code and QuickMemo+ which combines the Quickmemo, Memo and Notebook apps into a single one.
The LG G3 Stylus will first launch in Brazil in September. Asia, the Middle East and Commonwealth of Independent States countries will follow later on. It remains to be seen if it will make its way to North America and Europe, perhaps with LTE in tow.
Pricing was not announced today.
