Lenovo kicked off 2014 by today announcing its first LTE smartphone, the Lenovo Vibe Z. It will support download speeds up to 150Mbps and uploads up to 50Mpbs. The company is likely to have made the announcement today to beat the deluge of announcements expected next week at CES 2014.
“We created the new Vibe Z with its elegant design, high performance and custom software so that people can truly have the best smartphone experience now at the speed of LTE,” said Liu Jun, senior vice president, Lenovo Business Group, Lenovo.

The Lenovo Vibe Z also comes with a laser-etched, fabric-feel rear cover and custom imaging software that includes Lenovo’s Super Camera and Super Gallery apps.
The Lenovo Vibe Z will sell for US$549 when it launches in February. It will be available in Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates and the Philippines. There is no word at this point on a possible North American launch.
