Huawei announced in late July that it would hold a press event on September 4 as part of IFA 2014. The invitation revealed little as to what it would announce but a new teaser has given us a little bit more information. Lighting around the top corner of a device forms a large “7.” China’s MyDrivers suggests that the device featured is the Huawei Ascend Mate 7 or D7.
As for specifications, the report adds that the Huawei Ascend Mate 7 (or D7) is expected to come an improved version of its own octa-core Kirin 920 processor, Android 4.4.2 KitKat, a 6-inch display a 13MP rear camera, a 5MP front camera. It may also come with a fingerprint scanner. Two variants may also be offered: One with a WQHD (2560×1440) display and 3GB of RAM and a Full HD (1080×1920) model with 2GB of RAM.
Past rumours had expected the announcement of the Ascend Mate 3 with very similar specifications. It may well be that Huawei is realigning its product portfolio and will perhaps announce that it is merging its Mate and D families.
All should be revealed on September 4.
