HTC took to Twitter yesterday to tease us about an upcoming February 18 announcement. Set to take place only days before MWC 2014, the few details suggest that it will not be a device announcement.
The Valentine Day-themed tweet shows two HTC One smartphones with broken screens and hints “If only broken hearts were this easy to fix.” Could HTC make some kind of announcement about a new device repair or protection program? Extended warranties are now commonly offered by manufacturers and HTC may have decided to get into the game as well.
Unlike Nokia, Samsung and Sony among others, HTC is not expected to hold any events at MWC 2014. With just over a week to go, it has not sent out any press invitations yet. Despite no sign of any event, HTC will be in attendance at the event with its own booth. Recent rumours suggest that HTC will hold a dedicated event in March to unveil its latest flagship smartphone, still only known as the HTC M8.
