HTC will likely debut its new HTC Sense 6.0 with the HTC M8 when the new flagship smartphone is announced sometime in the coming weeks. Now we our first bit of evidence that the new Android overlay will also make its way to the HTC One later this year. This is not a huge surprise given that the HTC One is the company’s current flagship smartphone but it’s good to see a sign that is indeed coming.
In a spreadsheet put together by @LlabTooFeR showing what HTC devices can expect various Android 4.x.x updates, one rows reveals plans for “Android 4.4.2 + Sense 6.0.” The update is currently scheduled only for the HTC One. It has a status of “confirmed” with a release date of late summer or autumn. There is also a note that the “android base might be different,” suggesting that Google already has more KitKat updates in the pipeline.
Few details have emerged to date about HTC Sense 6.0. The version number bump to a completely new number (the current version sits at 5.5) suggests some major changes and improvements but your guess is as good as ours as to what they could be.
