While most of our attention has been focused on what devices HTC will launch in the second half of 2014, rumours are starting to paint a picture of what is in store for us in 2015. The usually reliable @evleaks today reported that HTC is already working on its next flagship smartphone and that it could be called the M9.
Given the recent reports that HTC had dropped plans for an HTC M8 Prime, perhaps in favour of the HTC M8 Plus and HTC M8 Advance, it’s somewhat surprising to see that HTC could also launch an HTC M9 Prime. Even stranger is the claim that the HTC M9 Prime could launch before the HTC M9.
Nothing is known at this point about the HTC M9 or the HTC M9 Prime. We’ll have to see if HTC sticks with its current design philosophy or decides to strike off in a new direction. Given that both the original HTC One and the HTC One (M8) garnered well-deserved high praise for their design and aesthetics, it’s unlikely though that HTC will stray too far.
The HTC M8 Prime boasted some impressive specifications including a Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor, a 5.5-inch WQHD (2560×1440) display and a a metal-ceramic composite body. Perhaps we could see those resurface for the HTC M9 Prime.
