There could be more bad news for HTC. Most rumours to date have suggested that the beleaguered smartphone manufacturer will unveil its latest flagship smartphone sometime this month. HTC last year unveiled the HTC One on the eve of MWC 2013 and many expect it to do something similar this year. But a new rumour suggests that a later launch may be in the cards.
The usually reliable @evleaks today tweeted that the launch of the HTC M8 may slip to late March. It now appears that an event is set to take place in New York at that time.
Starting to look like a late March, NYC launch for HTC M8.

Given that HTC has not yet announced any events, it’s not even clear that there is a HTC M8 launch delay. But @evleaks‘ tweet does suggest that HTC was hoping for an earlier launch. Should the delay be legitimate, no reason has been given so far to explain what may have led to it.
After announcing the HTC One last year, HTC ran into manufacturing challenges that pushed out the launch. As a result it was not able to capitalize on hitting markets before the Samsung Galaxy S4 and other flagship devices. Another delay this year would once again play into the hands of HTC’s competition and make its attempt at turning around its fortunes that much more difficult.
