HTC M8 Ace to be unveiled on June 3?

Rumoured HTC M8 AceIf recent rumours are to be believed, HTC is getting ready to launch a cheaper version of its flagship HTC One (M8) smartphone. While most of the specifications are expected to remain unchanged, HTC is looking to push the retail price down by doing away with the all-metal unibody design in favour of a much cheaper plastic body. According to Hong Kong online retailer ePrice , HTC will unveil this new device, currently known as the HTC M8 Ace although it might launch as the HTC One Ace, on June 3.

The report adds that the HTC M8 Ace will come with a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor and a 5-inch Full HD (1080×1920). It will reportedly drop the HTC Duo camera in favour of a 13MP one, perhaps as a further cost-cutting measure. It should come in a range of colours. As for the price, it could sell for as low as NT$14,500 (about CA$525), the price that HTC had been aiming for according to earlier reports.

An accompanying render appears to confirm the single rear-camera and the plastic body. Interestingly, @evleaks has also posted an image of the same device, this time from the TENAA website, China’s telecommunication equipment regulator. It shows a somewhat different device with a much flatter body than the render suggests but again with a single rear camera.
