Recent reports have all hinted that HTC will unveil its next flagship, currently known as the HTC Hima, sometime in March. A new rumour now suggests the launch could in fact happen earlier. Nowhereelse.fr‘s Steve Hemmerstoffer obtained an invitation allegedly sent out by HTC for an event at CES 2015. If legitimate and assuming it is for the HTC Hima and not another device, HTC could unveil its next flagship device as early as January 5, 2015.
The invitation come with the render of a device. Unfortunately, it’s hard to tell much about the new device given the artistic liberties taken by HTC’s marketing department with the image. It does suggest that HTC may be updating its logo though. Perhaps a new tagline will be unveiled as well.
While the HTC Hima render reveals little, new AnTuTu benchmark results (courtesy of @upleaks) have effectively confirmed earlier specifications leaks. Identified as the HTC6535LVW (for Verizon Wireless presumably), AnTuTu indicates that the HTC Hima will come with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor with Adreno 430 GPU, Android 5.0.1 Lollipop (likely with HTC Sense 7.0), a 5-inch Full HD (1080×1920) display, 3GB of RAM, a 20.7MP rear camera and a 13MP front camera.
Will HTC try to get a headstart on its competition by releasing its next flagship smartphone before the expected flurry of announcements at MWC 2015? We should know in a few days.
