If all the rumours are true, HTC will have a busy second half of the year. Rumoured to be working on a tablet for Google (the Nexus 8 perhaps?) and its HTC One Wear smartwatch, it is also reportedly readying a number of new smartphones. While it appears that the HTC M8 Prime will not be among them, it could still launch the HTC M8 Plus, HTC M8 Advance and HTC W8. A new rumour, courtesy of @evleaks, now suggests that there could be one more smartphone, the HTC Eye which would be aimed at a very specific market.
Details are slim at this point but the HTC Eye will be marketed as the “ultimate selfie” handset. It will launch in Q4 in the U.S. with AT&T. Nothing else is known about the device at this point.
With smartphones starting to carry 5MP front cameras, it remains to be seen what would make the HTC Eye the “ultimate selfie” smartphone. It would likely be a combination of such a camera with improved software to make it easier to take selfies. For example, it could include a gesture to take the shot, a feature that LG unveiled on the LG G3.
Are selfies important enough to you that you would consider a device that focuses on this capability, possibly at the expense of other specifications? Let us know below.
