HTC has been teasing the upcoming launch of at least one new smartphone. Based on hints to date, we expect the company to unveil the HTC Desire 820 at its IFA 2014 press event. With only days to go, it appears that its specifications have been leaked. China’s @upleaks (the successor to the now retired @evleaks?) today tweeted details about a device codenamed A50 which could be the Desire 820.
Here are the details provided:
- Processor: 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 (MSM8916)
- Display: 5.5-inch HD
- RAM:1.5GB
- Internal storage: 8GB
- Rear-facing camera: 13MP
- Front-facing camera: 8MP
- Battery: 2,600mAh
These specifications contain one surprise. With Qualcomm hinting that we would soon see devices with its new octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor, it was expected that the HTC Desire 820 might be that device. It’s possible at this point that the A50 is not the Desire 820 or simply that one or more of these specifications are incorrect. We’ll know better next week when HTC holds its press event.
The 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor has already made its way into the HTC Desire 510 (also known as the A11 earlier) announced earlier this week.
Update (9/1/2014): As we expected, it turns out that the HTC A50 is not the HTC Desire 820. In a follow-up tweet, @upleaks confirmed that the two are indeed different devices. It’s not clear yet what device it could be though.
