We first learned about the HTC Desire 8, a new mid-range smartphone, last week. New details have now surfaced courtesy of the usually reliable LlabTooFeR about this mid-range device, including more detailed specifications and a list of variants for different markets.
Rumoured HTC Desire 8 specifications:
- Processor: 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 (MSM8926)
- Operating system: Google Android 4.4.2 KitKat with HTC Sense 6.0
- Cellular connectivity: LTE/HSPA+/CDMA (depending on market)
- Other connectivity: 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0
- Display: 5.5-inch HD (720×1280)
- RAM: 1GB
- Internal storage: 8GB
- External storage: MicroSD cards
- Rear-facing camera: 13MP
- Front-facing camera: 5MP
- Other: On-screen buttons, dual-SIM variant
The following market variants are planned:
- A5_CHL – CDMA/LTE – Sprint USA
- A5_DUG – Dual SIM UMTS/GSM
- A5_DWG – Dual SIM CDMA/GSM
- A5_UL – UMTS/LTE – Europe, Africa, Asia, ATT (USA)
- A5_TL – TD-LTE China – China
As you can see, it appears that HTC has at least two U.S. carriers onboard to offer the HTC Desire 8. This opens the door to it coming to Canada as well.
Codenamed A5, the HTC Desire 8 could be unveiled alongside the HTC M8, the company’s next flagship smartphone, sometime in March.
