It should come as no surprise that Google announced that its 24 hour U.S. Glass sale was a success. The company announced that it had sold out of Glass even before the full 24 hours were up. It did not specify how many Explorer spots or Glass devices were up for grabs though.

The white version of Glass (Cotton as Google calls it) sold out within a few hours but it did not take much longer for the other colours to sell out as well despite the US$1,500 price tag.
Google is already looking at “new ways to expand the Explorer program in the future,” suggesting that we may other one-day sales or other types of promotions in the future.
In the meantime, Google has begun to roll out its XE16 Glass update which is based on Android 4.4 KitKat. Along with better battery life, it brings a number of enhancements but also removes the video calls feature.
