Could Google follow in Motorola’s footsteps and offer its own flagship smartphone in a few new shades? The Google Nexus 5 launched back on October 31 and has since then been available only in black or white. It now appears that Google may soon unveil new colour options. According to a video allegedly of the Google Play store obtained by PhoneArena, six new colour options could soon be up for grabs. Joining Black and White would be Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue and Purple.
Each colour option will be available in either the 16 or 32GB storage configuration and will sell for the same price as the current models.
There are a number of signs that the video is nothing more than a hoax. A closer look at the video shows that the URL does not change but it does on the real Google Play store. The transitions from one colour to another also appear to be a bit too rapid. They also lack the roating arrow that you see briefly on the store when a new page loads.
Assuming for a moment that this is a legitimate video, there is no word on when Google might launch these new colour options for the Nexus 5.
For now, take this rumour with a healthy pinch of salt. But let us know below what colour you would go for this does turn out to be true.
