The World Cup kicks off (sorry, I could not resist) today with host country Brazil taking on Croatia. Over the next month, 32 teams will battle to determine who is the best in the world. You will be able to follow all the action through any number of apps, including the CBC 2014 FIFA World Cup and official FIFA apps. Google has now gotten into the action and updated Google Now so that it will also be able to provide all the latest action and information.
The next time you bring up Google Now, it will ask you if you’re interested in the World Cup. Simply say yes and you’re set to go with new cards for the tournament. You’ll also be able to tell Google Now what teams you want to follow more closely.
If that’s not enough, a simple Google search for [world cup] or [world cup (country)] will give you information such as team lineups, live scores and up to the minute information about attempted goals and player stats. Google will also offer a timeline of all major events during live matches, allowing you to keep up to date even when you cannot watch the game itself.
Google has also updated Google Trends and Google Maps, the latter now including Street Views of the 12 stadiums as well as the painted streets that are one of Brazil’s tournament traditions.
Don’t forget to vote in our latest poll to let us know how you plan on watching the World Cup.
