If all the rumours are to be believed (and there is no reason not to at this point), Google will launch at least two new Nexus devices with Android L sometime later this month. The first, the Nexus 6, will be a 5.9-inch phablet while the second is expected to be a larger tablet than the Nexus 7 tablets that Google released over the last two years. Most recent rumours have suggested that HTC is behind the Google Nexus 9, going as far as identifying its model number as 0P82100. But we’ve never seen the name Nexus 9 together with this model number until now.
Taiwan’s NCC (National Communications Commission), its equivalent of the US FCC, has certified the Google Nexus 9 and given us the confirmation that it is indeed the HTC 0P82100. As you can see from the screenshot above, all the details are in one place: HTC as the manufacturer, the 0P82100 model number and Nexus 9 as the device’s name.
That effectively confirms that the Google Nexus 9 has obtained its FCC and Wi-Fi Alliance certifications.
Key specifications include a 64-bit NVIDIA Tegra K1 processor, Android L (Lemon Meringue Pie, Lion or Lollipop?), an 8.9-inch display (with a resolution of 2,048 by 1,440 pixels?) 3 or 4GB of RAM, GPS, dual-band Wi-Fi a/b/gn/ac, Bluetooth 4.0 LE, NFC, a rear 8MP camera and a front 1.6MP camera.
Now all we need is an announcement date and availability and pricing details.
