More alleged images have surfaced of the rumoured Nexus 8 tablet that Google is expected to unveil later this month. While the first image popped up on Google’s own site, these new ones come from China courtesy of MyDrivers. They reveal little about the tablet as it is wrapped in a protective case to keep its looks under wraps for now. But the source of the images was confident enough about them to stamp them as “100% true exclusive leaked.” Along with the two images, MyDrivers‘ source provided some additional details about the tablet.
Despite earlier rumours pointing to an Intel Bay Trail or NVIDIA Tegra processor, the Google Nexus 8 will reportedly come with a Qualcomm 64-bit processor and 3GB of RAM. Qualcomm’s 64-bit processor selection is currently limited to the Snapdragon 410, 610 and 615, none of which you would expect in a flagship device though. It will also reportedly run Android 4.5 (or Android 5.0?), Google’s first 64-bit version of Android.
While there had been rumours of a high-end Nexus tablet, Google may have decided to instead aim for a more reasonably priced tablet to introduce its new 64-bit version of Android to as many as possible. Then again, a second Nexus tablet could also be on its way.
Google is expected to announce the Nexus 8 tablet at Google I/O 2014. It may well be the last Nexus device before Google unveils a new Android Silver program later this year.
Once again, a healthy pinch of salt is highly recommended as there is a lot of inconsistency between all these rumours.
