The Google Nexus 10 looks to be making a coming back to Google Play. Sold out and unavailable for a number of months now, the Nexus 7’s larger sibling is once again showing as ‘coming soon’ on Google’s online store in Canada, the U.S. and other countries. Both 16GB and 32GB models show the same status. A look at the specifications show that it is indeed the original Google Nexus 10 that was first announced in October 2012.
The tablet’s return suggests two scenarios. The first is that the oft-rumoured release of a successor may not come as soon as many were hoping for. Alternatively, it may come relatively soon and when it does, Google will update the specification details to those of the new model.
Rumours of a second-generation Nexus 10 have been all over the map. Among the manufacturers reported to be building it have been ASUS, HTC, LG (it turned out to be the LG G Pad 8.3 GPe instead) and Samsung which was responsible for the first model. More recent rumours have suggested that Google will opt for a smaller 8.9-inch model (the Nexus 9?), an 8.0-inch model and perhaps a third-generation Nexus 7 in 2014.
Google Play lists the 16GB Nexus 10 for CA$409 and the 32GB model for CA$509, the same prices as it originally launched with.
