Google was to have opened registration for Google I/O 2014 today but it announced early today that it is pushing it out by a week. The registration period will now run from April 15 to April 18. The delay is due to Google still tweaking its new registration system.
We’re still working to make the registration process even easier for you, and it will now be open four days starting next week (opening next Tuesday and closing Friday). After the registration window closes, applicants will randomly be selected and we’ll send ticket purchase confirmation emails shortly thereafter.
Rather than a first-come-first-served model that led to a crush of registrations, an unreliable registration process due to volume of requests and quick sellouts in past years, people will now have four days to register their interest to attend the conference. Once the registration window closes, Google will randomly select attendees from all the applications. Notifications to those selected will then be sent out the following week.
Google I/O 2014 will take place on June 25 and 26, 2014 at the Moscone Center in San Francisco. Tickets will sell for US$900 for general admission and US$300 for for academics.
