With a growing ecosystem of apps, Google Glass is becoming more and more versatile, even before it exits its open beta phase. A new app called Hotel Near Me developed by Destinia, an online travel agency, has now given travelers the ability to book their hotel rooms right through Glass.
Triggered by the voice command “find me a hotel,” the app uses GPS to locate the nearest hotels (from a database of over 230,000 hotels across the world) and provide a range of information, such as photos, amenities and rates, about each to allow you to choose where to stay during your travels. The app also provides a map of the hotel’s location and provide directions to get there. Commands like “book hotel” allow you to make your reservation even as you’re headed over.

The app was just announced and the first customer to use Hotel Near Me was Rodney Loges from Virginia. Using the app, he was able to book a room at the Holiday Inn in Woodbridge, Virginia, with only Google Glass.
“I needed to reserve a hotel nearby for some investors coming to visit me, and I was surprised how easy it was, literally in the blink of an eye” said Loges, founder of the financing company One Degree Capital and confessed geek.
Hotel Near Me is a free download available through HotelNearMe.com.
Destinia already has plans to improve the app by adding further functionality. It is also planning an international version with multiple languages and currencies for both the Android and iOS platforms.
