Following yesterday’s surprise that Google had posted factory images of a new version of Android for its Nexus devices, reports are starting to surface that Android 4.4.4 OTA updates are starting to land on devices as well.
The Android 4.4.4 update weighs in at only 2.5MB, confirming reports yesterday that it is not a major update and only meant to address some security issues.
If you have yet to receive the update notification, you can check manually for it via Settings -> About phone (or tablet) -> System Updates -> Check now but it may still be a few days before you see it. You can also manually update your device using the following update files:
- Nexus 5 — Android 4.4.3 (KOT84M) to 4.4.4 (KTU84P)
- Nexus 10 — Android 4.4.3 (KOT84M) to 4.4.4 (KTU84P)
- Nexus 4 — Android 4.4.3 (KOT84M) to 4.4.4 (KTU84P)
Drop us a note below if you have received the Android 4.4.4 OTA update on your Nexus device.
