Rumours continue to point to the immiment release of the next version of KitKat. A number of recent Android builds have surfaced in recent weeks, culminating in build KTU84D about a week ago. Now comes a report that Android 4.4.3, also known as KitKat MR2 (MR stands for Maintenance Release), is now undergoing internal testing. The update is now being pushed out to about 1 percent of Google employees outside of the Android team to solicit further feedback before making it more broadly available.
The current version has been rolled out to Nexus devices only, including the Nexus 4, Nexus 5, Nexus 7 (2012), Nexus 7 (2013) and Nexus 10. GPe devices and the Moto X are next in line to get the update.
At this point, it appears that Android 4.4.3 could begin rolling out in a matter of weeks. Of course, it all depends on how well testing goes. The more bugs need fixing, the longer it will take for the update to be released.
This latest report once again suggests that no new features are being rolled out. Android 4.4.3 will strictly be a maintenance release containing security and stability enhancements.
