LG reportedly held a “secret” meeting today at a Korean retailer in its home country where it unveiled the LG G3. Unfortunately, while the meeting may have been secret, the presentation slides have been leaked and are no longer so secret. While the official announcement is set for May 27, today’s presentation has revealed pretty much all that there is to know about the LG G3.
The model introduced today is the LG-F400. Three variants, S/K/L, will be offered for Korea’s different carriers. As for those LG G3 specifications, here is what we can look forward to at next week’s announcement:
- Processor: Qualcomm Snapdragon 801
- Operating system: Google Android 4.4 KitKat
- Cellular connectivity: LTE/LTE-A
- Other connectivity: Bluetooth 4.0 LE, NFC
- Display: 5.5-inch WQHD (2560×1440/538PPI) IPS
- RAM: 3GB
- Internal storage: 32GB
- Rear-facing camera: 13MP with OIS+ and laser AF
- Front-facing camera: 2.1MP with “enhanced selfie mode”
- Battery: 3,000mAh
- Dimensions: 146.3 × 74.6 × 8.9 millimeters
- Other: 1 Watt amp
All in all, the details line up quite well with the rumours that have circulated the last few weeks. The only surprise appears to be the Snapdragon 801 processor rather than the 805 many rumours had suggested.
As you would expect, LG will focus on the LG G3’s WQHD display. It even puts it up against the Galaxy S5’s 5.1-inch Full HD (1080×1920) one, effectively confirming that LG is taking the fight to Samsung with its latest smartphone.
LG will formally unveil the LG G3 next week at a series of events across the world. We should get the last missing specification details (microSD slot or not?) then.
