Rumours about the upcoming Apple iPhone 6 have been around for some time already. They are only going to accelerate as we get closer to the expected announcement. The latest has Digitimes citing China’s Commercial Times that Foxconn Electronics is set to land an order to manufacture 90 million iPhone 6 smartphones for Apple this year.
The report goes on to suggest that despite an expected slower growth for the global smartphone market this year, Apple smartphone shipments could rise some 23% in 2014. Apple shipped a record 153.4 million iPhones in 2013.
Apple is expected to unveil two new iPhones this year. Both will likely sport larger displays. The smaller could sport a 4.7- or 4.8-inch display while the larger one, which may launch as a new product category for Apple, could come with a 5.5- to 5.7-inch display.
At last word, the new iPhone phablet could launch as early as May with the iPhone 6 to follow in the fall time frame, roughly a year after the iPhone 5S launched.
