Fast Company this week released its “The World’s Top 10 Most Innovative Companies in the Internet of Things” list and Belkin International was among the companies to make the cut. The list, part of the magazine’s annual Most Innovative Companies issue, looks at the growing trend of connecting pretty much any device to the Internet to allow us to monitor, share, and automate many aspects of our daily lives.
Belkin made the list for its line of WeMo smartphone-controlled smart home products which includes plugs that let you remotely control devices that are plugged into them as well as a new line of light switches. A new partnership with Jarden, Belkin also extended its WeMo line to include an Internet-connected Crock-Pot.
“Coming off a momentous CES and a 2013 that included the acquisition of the Linksys brand, this honour from Fast Company is the culmination of a banner year for Belkin,” said Chet Pipkin, founder and CEO of Belkin International. “As the Internet of Things rapidly evolves, Belkin is on the front lines with an array of technologies and products that merge the virtual environment with the physical environment to bring the Internet of Things to life for consumers like never before.”
Belkin also has a line of accessories for smartphones and tablets including cases such as its new QODE QODE Ultimate Keyboard for iPad Air (our review) and the Linksys line of home networking devices that includes routers and the Linksys RE2000 Dual-Band Wireless-N Range Extender (our review).
Belkin is in some pretty impressive company on the list. Among the other award winners are Nest (which was recently acquired by Google), Jawbone and Intel.
