Geeksphone began teasing us that “The revolution is coming” back in November 2013. The most interesting feature of the Geeksphone Revolution is likely to be its ability to run two different operating systems. Described as something for “advanced users,” it t would allow a user to choose between Android and Firefox OS at boot time. New details have now surfaced online, giving a bit more information about this upcoming smartphone.
An image, confirmed to be authentic by Geeksphone, shows a device very similar to the Keon and Peak, Firefox OS developer smartphones that Geeksphone released last year. It sports a larger speaker grille and a repositioned camera and flash but these are really minor differences.
In terms of specifications, the Geeksphone Revolution is expected to come with a 1.6GHz dual-core Intel Atom Z2560 processor, a 4.7-inch qHD (540×960) IPS display and a 2,000mAh battery. The image at least confirms the Intel processor if not the specific one.
The Revolution is also expected to launch in single OS variants, one for Android and one for Firefox OS.
There is still no word on when the Geeksphone Revolution might launch but Geeksphone has apparently told Germany’s MobileGeeks that it will begin to ship in late January. When it does officially launch, it should sell for about €300.
Anyone who preordered the now-cancelled Peak+ can have their order switched to the Geeksphone Revolution for the same price.
