The HTC M8 is oft-rumoured to be the next HTC flagship smartphone. Its specifications have leaked a number of times with most rumours being fairly consistent. Llabtoofer, usually reliable when it comes to HTC devices, has posted a summary of past HTC M8 specifications rumours. While most is not new, he does add a number of new details.
This latest report aligns with most rumours rather than a recent one that suggested that the HTC M8 would launch as the HTC One+ with a Snapdragon 805 processor in tow. As expected, Qualcomm’s latest processor will not be ready in time for an early 2014 device launch, forcing HTC to fall back on the Snapdragon 800.
Here are the rumoured HTC M8 specifications:
- Processor: Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 (MSM8974)
- Operating system: Google Android 4.4.2 KitKat with HTC Sense 6.0
- Cellular connectivity: LTE
- Other connectivity: 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC
- Display: 5-inch Full HD (1080×1920)
- RAM: 2GB
- Internal storage: 16GB
- External storage: MicroSD cards up to 64GB
- Rear-facing camera: 4MP UltraPixel
- Front-facing camera: 2.1MP
- Battery: Between 2,700 and 3,000mAh
- Other: IR port
This new report also adds a number of key details. First is that the HTC M8 will come with half of the internal memory of the HTC One but will add a microSD card slot to compensate. A “high possibility” exists that it will also support the microSDXC format. If so, it could support cars up to 2GB.
As for rumours that HTC could unveil an improved UltraPixel camera, it now looks like it will be the same camera sensor as on the HTC One. Perhaps HTC has made improvements on the software side to compensate for some of its limitations.
The HTC M8 will also sport onscreen buttons and is likely to have a larger battery, two details that the HTC One+ rumour also called out.
Much like the HTC One, the HTC M8 is expected to launch globally with a number of variants to support different markets. An official announcement is expected “pretty soon,” within the next month or two.
