Do you remember the leaked images of a Nokia smartwatch that surfaced back in October? Little was revealed but they appeared to show a casing made of the same polycarbonate as Nokia’s Lumia smartphones. But they were enough for Jonas Daehnert, perhaps better known as Phone Designer, to come up with concept images of what it could look like.
This Nokia smartwatch concept come with a touchscreen display. It has no physical buttons or connectors except for a small reset button on the back. Connectivity and data sharing is done via NFC and Bluetooth. The watch also supports wireless charging. It also sports a matte black band, possibly made of rubber.
The display appears to consist of three rows of information. The top and bottom ones display notifications for things like email, voice calls and Skype. The middle row displays the time. Tapping on any of the icons presumably allows you to then see the notifications and interact with the primary device. For example, tapping on the headphone icon would presumably then give you music controls.
The display is monochromatic but it appears that you can choose the colour it will use.
More images of this Nokia smartwatch are promised and will hopefully give us a better look at how this interface would work.
Since the original leak, no new information has surfaced. Given the attention that wearable technology is getting these days, it’s likely that a prototype exists in a Nokia lab somewhere. Whether it makes it out though remains to be seen.
We’ve featured Phone Designer‘s work here before, notably on a Microsoft Surface smartphone and some Nokia Normandy images.
