Concept devices are a lot of fun (that’s why we have our Concept Sunday feature every week after all). They’re a glimpse into what we think or want our future to be like. Some are oddly prescient and some are just a little too out there but they capture our vision for the future at a moment in time. Imagining what the future will bring is not new either. Science-fiction tales have long predicted technology advances and many of those are now things that we use. Others, such as flying cars and interplanetary travel, are still a ways off though. Looking back at those predictions can also be interesting. In that vein, we bring you a concept from 2004 for a device called the Apple iPad.
Originally posted on the MacRumor forums, we get an image of what appears to be a smaller tablet along with a few specifications. This iPad was powered by OS X 2go and sported a touchscreen with a resolution of 312 by 378 pixels, a trackpad, an iFlashCard slot, and Airport connectivity. It weighed in at 0.7 pounds and was only 1-inch thick. It offered 8 hours of battery life.
Obviously, the real Apple iPad that first launched in 2010 bears little resemblance to this device but whoever created this concept presciently got the name right.
