Concept Sunday: The ergonomic HTC e:voluti:on

HTC e:voluti:on conceptOne often overlooked aspect of smartphones is how they feel in our hands. While a mobile phone may have the best specifications and features, if it does not sit right in your hand, chances are that you will be looking to replace it sooner than later. With smartphones spending an increasingly large amount of time in our hands, companies may turn to ergonomics as an area to differentiate their devices from those of the competition. If so, the HTC e:voluti:on concept by Hege may well be a device we see in the future.

The HTC e:voluti:on is designed to “make it easier to grip naturally and convenient to hold for extended amounts of time.” The device sports a tapered design. Not only do the sides come in slightly at the bottom but it is also thinner at the bottom. The redesigned edges could well make it more comfortable to hold devices with larger displays.

The HTC e:voluti:on also sports a curved display. But unlike most such devices we have seen to date, only a portion of the display is curved. A profile image shows how the display follows the tapered edges in the lower portion of the device.

On the specification side, you’ll find a device that could well be released today. Powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 Series processor and Android L, it comes with a 5.5-inch display, 4GB of RAM, a 15MP rear camera, a 5MP front camera, a 3,500mAh battery and HTC BoomSound speakers.
