Concept Sunday: Dual-booting HTC Babel tablet

Devices that boot into both Google Android and Windows Phone seem to have a bit of a cursed history. The Samsung ATIV Q never made it to market and the ASUS Transformer Book Duet unveiled earlier this year at CES 2014 appears to be headed for the same fate. That has not deterred  Jonas Daehnert, better known as PhoneDesigner, from coming up with his own concept for a dual-booting HTC tablet. Called the HTC Babel and described as an homage to the HTC One, it will be familiar to anyone who has seen HTC’s current flagship smartphone.

The HTC Babel sports a 10-inch display with a 3:2 aspect ratio and support for a native digitizer, both front and rear cameras, front-facing speakers and an aluminium case.

Windows 8 64bit or Android? Use whatever you want! It’s your decision!

It’s not clear how the HTC Babel would switch from Android to Windows and back. Perhaps that question will be answered when HTC does decide to offer such a device for real.

HTC pulled out of the tablet market after devices such as the HTC Flyer and HTC Jetstream failed to catch on with consumers. It has since hinted several times that it may return to the tablet space but has yet to do so. Rumours suggest it may finally do so this year with a high-end Google Nexus tablet.
