BlackBerry has a hit on its hands with the rather unusual BlackBerry Passport. Some 200,000 were ordered within days of the company starting to take pre-orders and it continues to receive mostly positive reviews. What if BlackBerry popped that distinctive 4.5-inch square display into a device without a physical keyboard? It might very much look like the BlackBerry Visa concept envisioned by designer Raffi G (also known as Ziro1).
The BlackBerry Visa would presumably sport very similar specifications to those of the Passport, minus the keyboard. If so, we’d be looking at a device sporting the following:
- Processor: 2.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 (MSM8974-AA)
- Operating system: BlackBerry OS 10.3
- Cellular connectivity: LTE/HSPA+/GPRS/EDGE
- Other connectivity: A-GPS, dual-band 802.11 b/g/n/ac Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 LE
- Display: 4.5-inch Full HD-class (1,440×1,440)
- RAM: 3GB
- Internal storage: 32GB
- External storage: MicroSD cards up to 128GB
- Rear-facing camera: 13MP AF with OIS, BSI, LED flash and 1080p video capture
- Front-facing camera: 2MP FF with 720p video capture
- Sensors: Accelerometer, magnetometer, gyroscope, Time of Flight (ToF), ambient light
- Battery: 3,450mAh
- Colours: Black
- Other: FM radio
The BlackBerry Visa sports a somewhat different back cover including a carbon weave option.
The only issue with this concept device might be the name itself. The BlackBerry Visa is reportedly already in development as a new form factor which incorporates a flip-out keyboard. Should BlackBerry decide to develop this device as well, it would need a new codename.
