Following a leaked image of the back of the LG G3, LG itself today confirmed the name of its next flagship smartphone. The leaked image confirmed that LG would once again go with a power and volume buttons located on the back of the device. The usually reliable @evleaks today provided a closer look at the new button design.
The closeup image reveals a more refined circular design that does away with the bumps for a flatter finish. Much as we saw with the LG Flex, the camera sits above the buttons, flanked on one side by a flash (possibly a dual one) and a more mysterious sensor on the other. Could that latter one be a fingerprint sensor, heart rate monitor, or even an IR blaster?
Recent rumours have suggested that the LG G3 will come with a 5.5-inch WQHD (2560×1440) display, at least 2GB of RAM and a 13MP camera with OIS. On the software side, we can expect it to come with Android 4.4 KitKat with an LG overlay and personalization features including a concierge-like service capable of offering contextual advice (like not forgetting your umbrella when it’s going to rain).
As for a release date for the LG G3, LG itself has confirmed it will happen sometime in Q2.
