Sony Mobile Communications today unveiled the Xperia Z1 Compact, a more compact version of its Xperia Z1 flagship smartphone. The rumours that preceded the launch got most of the details right if not the name. Unlike most mini models, the Xperia Z1 Compact sports many of the same flagship specifications as its larger sibling, shrinking only the display and battery.

The Sony Xperia Z1 Compact will launch globally starting in February 2014. There is no word yet on a Canadian launch. Pricing was also not announced today.
