Lenovo today announced the ThinkPad 8 tablet. Unlike its first 8-inch Windows 8.1 tablet, the Lenovo Miix 2, this one is aimed at the business and professional market segments. Made of machine-cut aluminum, it sports a slightly larger display and perhaps more importantly, a more powerful processor. Accessories such as a keyboard base and dock also allow it to be used as a more traditional PC when not on the move.
Lenovo ThinkPad 8 specifications:
- Processor: 2.4GHz quad-core Intel Z3770
- Operating system: Windows 8.1
- Cellular connectivity: Optional 4G LTE
- Display: 8.3-inch WUXGA (1920×1200)
- RAM: 2GB LPDDR3
- Storage: Up to 128GB
- Rear-facing camera: 8MP AF with flash
- Front-facing camera: 2MP
- Connectors: Micro-USB 3.0, micro-HDMI
- Dimensions: 224.3 × 132 × 8.8 millimeters
- Weight: 430 grams
- Other: Microsoft Office
Lenovo is also offering a Quickshot Cover for the ThinkPad 8. The cover triggers the camera app as soon as the cover is peeled back to expose the rear camera and also offers a Tent Mode configuration.
The Lenovo ThinkPad 8 will be available later this month starting at US$399.
