The ASUS PadFone X is indeed a real device and it is headed to AT&T which will be its exclusive U.S. carrier. AT&T made the announcement during its 2014 AT&T Developer Summit at CES 2014 today.
Like other Padfone devices, the ASUS Padfone X is a smartphone that converts into a tablet when it is docked into a dock. In this case, it will be a 5-inch smartphone with a 9-inch tablet dock. Powered by Android 4.4 KitKat, it also supports Voice over LTE (VoLTE). This is all we know so far but if past rumours are correct, it will also come with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor (MSM8974AB), a 5-inch Full HD (1080×1920) display, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of onboard storage and a 5MP rear camera.
Specific AT&T availability and pricing details were not announced.
Here’s hoping that we find out more about the ASUS PadFone X at the ASUS press conference later today.
