Canceled BlackBerry C-Series specifications revealed?

The BlackBerry C-Series or ‘Cafe’ series was, at one point, going to the next generation of entry-level smartphones. A number of models had been identified by codenames such as Americano, Cappuccino, Kopi and Latte. Then BlackBerry signed a new partnership with Foxconn that turned over the design and manufacturing responsibilities to its new partner for devices aimed at emerging markets and canceled the C-Series. The Geekbench benchmarking tool now appears to have given us a glimpse at what the C-Series could have been.

Rumoured Geekbench benchmarks for Blackberry C-series

The results reveal a device with a 1.9GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 (MSM8230) processor with Adreno 305 GPU and 1.5GB of RAM. As benchmarked, it ran BlackBerry 10.2.1.569. Unfortunately, little else is revealed.

This information may be uninteresting in itself except from a historical perspective but it could also be a glimpse at the specifications of the upcoming BlackBerry Jakarta, Foxconn’s first BlackBerry device. It is certainly plausible that BlackBerry would have turned over the cancelled C-Series to Foxconn to give them a leg up on the design of their first device. If so, the Jakarta may well sport a Snapdragon 400 processor as well.

With Foxconn set to unveil its first BlackBerry device at MWC 2014, all should be revealed soon enough.

Geekbench also appears to have revealed  what could be the BlackBerry Ontario, BlackBerry’s next flagship all-touch device.
