The lines between wearable technology and fashion are blurring quite quickly. While concepts such as a skirt made up of Nokia Lumia 1520s pushes the boundaries of innovation , they lack the practicality and convenience we need from every day clothes. Bonobos, a U.S. clothier, may have achieved this balance between innovation and practicality with its new and impressive TechStyle line of clothing.
It promises “The functionality of your gadgets in the same fit and fabrics you love from Bonobos.” It completely replaces other mobile devices such as smartphones and fitness devices. Always connected to the Internet, it is able to provide timely information about the weather and provide fashion advice as well as keep you connected to social media without requiring a connection to a device such as a smartphone. Sensors embedded in the fabric will also monitor vital body information and help eliminate other devices such as fitness bands. It is all brought together with an advanced operating system powered by voice commands. And you have to see for yourself how effective the silent alarm can be.
Rather than trying to explain further, we’ll let their video do the talking:
The TechStyle line is currently comprised jeans, shirts and blazers.
As with Virgin Mobile Canada’s SmartKicks line of connected shoes, we have a feeling that the Bonobos TechStyle line may prove so popular that they’ll be unable to keep up with demand and have to take it down soon.
