BlackBerry today announced that it will hold a press event on September 24. In fact, it will hold three simultaneous press events on that day. One will take place in Toronto, another in London and the third in Dubai. While BlackBerry is playing coy about what it plans to announce, it is likely that none other than the BlackBerry Passport will be the star attraction. A good hint is that those invited to the event will be among the first to “See the bigger picture,” likely a reference to its 4.5-inch square display
BlackBerry has teased various details about the BlackBerry Passport since it was first announced in June. Both its touch-enabled keyeboard and square 4.5-inch Full HD-class (1,440×1,440) display have been detailed in past posts on the company’s blog. BlackBerry also confirmed that it will come in both black and white.
Rumoured specifications include a 2.2 quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage with expansion via microSD cards, a 13MP AF rear camera with OIS and a 3.450mAh battery. It should also come with BlackBerry 10.3 which will bring the Amazon Appstore and some 240,000 apps to the BlackBerry platform as well as BlackBerry’s own BlackBerry Assistant, its take on the personal digital assistant.
We can also expect to find out launch details such as carriers and pricing at the event(s).
