Fresh off the release of BBM 2.0 for Android and iOS, BBM for Android Gingerbread, the upcoming release of BBM Stickers and the upcoming launch of BBM for Nokia X and Windows Phone, BlackBerry took to its blog this week to talk about what is coming to future releases of its chat platform.
With millions of you depending on BBM to connect with your most important contacts, we want to provide the best messaging experience possible. So, we’re taking your feedback and we’re trying to knock it out of the park by bringing new features and improvements to BBM on a regular basis.
The next BBM release will include new features such as:
- The ability to share photos in multi-person chats
- Support for larger shared files increasing from 6MB to 16MB, enough for about 16 seconds of video as recorded on a BlackBerry Z30
- Slightly larger emoticons
There is no word on when this next BBM release will be launched. Based on this post though, it may not be more than a few weeks away.
By opening BBM to new operating systems, BlackBerry has given its chat platform a new lease on life and it clearly intends to make full use of this second chance to establish it among the leading chat tools.
