Much as Samsung did with the Samsung Galaxy S4, we can expect to see a number of Galaxy S5 variants launch later this year. Rumours have already hinted at a Galaxy S5 Active along with a Galaxy S5 mini and Galaxy S5 Zoom. Details are starting to emerge about the last one in particular. It appears to have surfaced on the GFXBench benchmark site with some specifications in tow.
Its predecessor, the Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom, sported model numbers SM-C101 and SM-C1010. It is likely that this latest device, identified only as the SM-C115 on the GFXBench website, is the likely successor. The same SM-C115 also surfaced over a month ago on India’s Zauba shipment tracking database where it is described as a Samsung Camera Mobile.
Despite the new name, it appears that Samsung will once again downgrade key specifications as it did with the Galaxy S4 Zoom. Here is what we know so far about the Samsung Galaxy S5 Zoom:
- Processor: 1.3GHz hexa-core Samsung Exynos 5 Hexa
- Operating system: Google Android 4.4.2 KitKat
- Other connectivity: GPS, Wi-Fi, Bleutooth, NFC
- Display: 4.8-inch HD (720×1280)
- RAM: 2GB
- Internal storage: 8GB of onboard storage? (GFXBench does not make that very clear)
- External storage:
- Rear-facing camera: 20.1MP
- Front-facing camera: 2MP
Earlier rumours suggested that the Samsung Galaxy S5 Zoom could be announced in May with the Galaxy S5 Mini would follow in June with likely very similar specifications in tow.
