BCE, Bell Mobility’s parent company, this week announced the expansion of their 4G network in Yukon with the launch of coverage in Pelly Crossing and Burwash Landing. The move is part of a CA$2.6 milllion investment to expand wireless coverage across Yukon over the next four years.
“Bell Mobility is pleased to welcome Pelly Crossing and Burwash Landing to our national 4G network as Bell and the Yukon government continue to roll out advanced broadband wireless service in the North,” said Wade Oosterman, President of Bell Mobility. “Bell is acknowledged in Canada and globally for our network investment and innovation, delivering the world’s best smartphones and mobile services to both consumers and business users. We’re bringing that same focus to northern Canada and to meeting the targets set out in Northwestel’s Modernization Plan.”
Over the next four years, Bell will launch 13 new wireless sites that will provide 4G service in communities across Yukon. The investment is made in cooperation with the Government of Yukon which is contributing CA$758,000 to that effort.
The goals of this expansion were initially set forth in Northwestel’s Modernization Plan but transfered over to Bell Mobility when Northwestel transferred its wireless portfolio to Bell Mobility in 2013.
Thanks, @telecomlead!
