Here is an interesting trademark filing. A few days ago, LG filed a trademark request for the term “Moon Violet.” There is little to go on at this point but the filing is for a “Goods and Services” described as a mobile phone or tablet computer. What is LG up to here?
While our first instinct is to wonder what new device LG could be cooking up for us, the answer may well be simpler and far less interesting. When LG unveiled its new LG G3 smartphone last month, it announced that it would come in a range of colours. Joining the usual black, red and white hues, the ever more popular gold shade, there was also a purple option called Moon Violet (pictured below). It would appear that LG simply decided to trademark the term to ensure that its competitors don’t all jump over it.
If you think we got our assessment of this situation completely wrong, let us know below what you think LG is up to with the Moon Violet.
