While BlackBerry has recently moved to strenghten its executive team under the leadership of new CEO John Chen, another executive has left the company. After reports surfaced that Executive Vice President Andrew Bocking had either left or been fired, BlackBerry issued a short statement to BGR to confirm that he had left the company:
I can confirm that Andrew Bocking, EVP, BBM has made the decision to leave BlackBerry. We thank him for his years of leadership and contribution.
BGR sources suggest that Bocking was displeased with the company, going as far as replacing his BlackBerry smartphone with an Android one. A recent decision to roll up BBM into its enterprise division may have been the last straw for him.
Bocking had been with BlackBerry since 2000. He only took on leadership of the BBM team in June 2013. There is no word on where he may end up next. He may have been poached by a competitor but that remains to be confirmed.
