A growing number of rumours are pointing to an October launch for the Apple iWatch. Not as clear is what shape the iWatch could take. Past rumours have suggested both round and rectangular displays. It now appears that Apple could in fact offer both. PocketNow has learned that Apple is testing two very different designs and could launch both of them at the same time.
One, dubbed the “Sports” model, will come with a rectangular design and rubber wristband. The second, known as the “Designer,” would instead feature a circular design and a stainless steel construction. Both will reportedly sport a touchscreen display, come with 8GB of onboard storage and will be water resistant. The Sports model could sport a wide array of sensors. Among them could be sensors for blood pressure, heart rate, body temp, outside temperature, barometric pressure, compass and blood oxygen level.
Past rumours had already hinted at different models but it now appears that Apple’s smartwatch strategy will encompass both the sports and fitness market as well as the fashion one. Such a move would certainly broaden its appeal and could help it reach shipment targets as high as several million this year alone.
