The upcoming Samsung Galaxy F is no stranger to leaked renders. We’ve seen the upcoming premium smartphone in both a golden and a “crystal clear” silver brushed metal finish. It has also popped up in a few live pictures. Another live one has now surfaced courtesy of GSMArena, giving us our best look yet at what the metal frame might look like.
While the front of the Galaxy F will be very similar to that of the Galaxy S5, the sides show more in common with the iPhone 5 line or the HTC One (M8) thanks to the chamfered edges. More interesting is the claim that despite having a metal frame, Samsung has once again opted to go with a plastic back, in part to allow for easy removal to get to the replaceable battery.
Take the new image with a very healthy pinch of salt. For one thing, the leaked renders such as this one we have seen so far do not suggest chamfered edges we see here. It also appears that the side of the device (near the bottom right) widens as it nears the top. It all hints at a photoshop hoax (and it has been a week of hoaxes already with the OnePlus Tab and the HTC Volantis).
Samsung last month launched the Samsung Galaxy S5 LTE-A which sports a 2.5GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor and 5.1-inch WQHD (2560×1440) Super AMOLED display. While it will only be available in South Korea, we hope (and rumours suggest) that its specifications will jump over to the Galaxy F which is expected to have wider distribution.
Update (7/6/2014): Much like us, SamMobile is calling this picture a fake. It appears to simply be a Galaxy S4 in an aluminium bumper case. Nice catch, guys!
